U.P. Rural High School Glee Club to participate in 4th Grand Prix Pattaya International Choir Competition

The University of the Philippines Rural High School (UPRHS) Glee Club will arrive in on July 20, 2011 to participate in the 4th Grand Prix Pattaya International Choir Competition that will be held at Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel in Pattaya on July 23, starting at 10:00 am.                                                                                                                        

The competition is organized by FESTA MUSICALE of Czech Republic which holds similar competitions in different parts of the world. For Asia, it will be held in Pattaya, Thailand.  There will be 15 choral groups in the competition.  The UP Rural High School Glee Club is the only group competing from the Philippines.  It will also be the Glee Club’s first time to visit Thailand.

The UPRHS Glee Club, along with the other participating groups, will also perform at the PARADE OF CHOIRS to be held at the Cathedral of Assumption University in Bangkok (Bangna campus) on July 21, 2011 at 6:00 PM.  Each choir will do a  7-minute concert.

The Glee Club is composed of 28 members and will be accompanied by 5 faculty members and two parents.  Prof Liza C. Carascal, Principal of UPRHS and Associate Professor, College of Arts and Sciences, UPLB,  will  head the group.

Members of the Filipino community in Bangkok and Pattaya and neighboring provinces are encouraged to attend any of the above events as a show of support for the Glee Club.
