On 7 September 2011, Senator Teofisto L. Guingona III met with officials of the Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC) at the TCDC Office in Bangkok, and Ms. Pajchima Tanasanti, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP), if the Thai Ministry of Commerce (MOC) to learn about Thailand’s creative economy policy and its benefits to the Thai economy in general. After the meeting, the Senator viewed the books and sample materials displayed at TCDC.
The Senator hoped to learn from Thailand’s strategies, experiences and best practices in the field of creative economy with a view to formulating Philippine policies in the area. He expressed hope that in the future, the Philippines could be as successful as Thailand in enhancing its creative economy industry.
Senator Guingona was in Thailand for a housing forum, which was keynoted by Vice President Jejomar C. Binay and organized by Habitat for Humanity on 6 to 8 September 2011. The Senator was accompanied by his wife, Marivic, and his staff.
