Mr. Tanai (M) and Ms. Sunisa (L) called on Ambassador Lacanlale (R) at the Philippine Embassy on 11 January 2012 to discuss “port-to-port” business.
Mr Tanai Vipasthavach, Chief of the Business Promotions Section and Business Development and Asset Management Department of the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT), paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Linglingay F. Lacanlale at the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok on 11 January 2012. He was accompanied by Assistant Chief, Ms Sunisa Boonsiri.
Mr Tanai noted ASEAN’s goal of becoming an economic community by 2015. He also cited that PAT is looking at port development projects in neighboring ASEAN countries, and acknowledges PAT’s need to seek more partners in ASEAN, and its role in increasing and balancing intra-regional trade.
Ambassador Lacanlale, noting the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, expressed the need for Philippine and Thai port authorities to cooperate especially in the areas of port development and management, and possibly explore ways to exchange information, experiences in ports development, and delegation, including training of people, among others.
